New BlackBerry could be exclusive to The Carphone Warehouse

Recent reports suggest that the new BlackBerry could be made available exclusively at The Carphone Warehouse.

According to Tech Digest, the BlackBerry Curve, which is codenamed Javelin, may be on sale on December 20th.

The Curve 8900 could make an ideal last minute Christmas present for executives and business people who do not like touchscreen handsets.

It features a QWERTY keyboard for easy typing in email, SMS messages and internet browsing.

RIM has not released any details about the price of the handset or which network it will be available on.

Other details, such as the contract terms are also "sketchy", according to Tech Digest, although some of the technical specifications have been released.

Users will be able to connect to the internet using Wi-Fi and view their emails or webpages on a TFT LCD screen.

Those who want recreational features are not likely to be disappointed as the phone supports a wide range of video and audio format playback.

It also has Bluetooth and a 3.2-megapixel camera for those on-the-go snapshots.

Buyers who travel a great deal or have a poor sense of direction might find the inclusion of GPS and BlackBerry maps a welcome inclusion in the package.

One of the big omissions that may worry some purchasers is the absence of 3G capabilities.

RIM recently released its first touchscreen BlackBerry, which is called the Storm.

The screen is one of the major attractions of the phone as it has slight suspension underneath, allowing users to feel as if they are clicking buttons.

Sacha Segan at PC Mag described it as "the BlackBerry that's poised to steal some of the iPhone's thunder in corporate circles".
