T-Mobile has announced that it will be launching a new Telenav GPS Navigation system for its mobile phone customers.

The new system, immediately available for Blackberry smartphones on T-Mobile, includes features such as pedestrian mode for city centres and extensive business listings.

Daniel Meredith, head of handset and device marketing at T-Mobile UK, commented: "We are delighted to be the first operator to offer this solution to our BlackBerry users.

"GPS navigation is becoming more popular each year and, through TeleNav, we can offer T-Mobile customers a service that is even better than traditional navigation devices."

The new features include improved security and capabilities which will "allow an increasingly rich and productive mobile experience for our customers," according to the RIM's chief executive officer Mike Lazaridis.
