Some 90 per cent of those with a smartphone would not revert back to a feature phone, according to a survey by Magmic Games and ISG.
The research showed that gaming was felt to be a superior experience on a smartphone such as a Blackberry, with features such as image quality and controls cited as benefits.
Executive vice-president of publishing at Magmic Games Nicholas Reichenbach said: "It is important for mobile carriers, original equipment manufacturers and entertainment publishers to continue efforts to offer compelling entertainment products to mobile customers."
It was also shown that 65 per cent of those with a smartphone bought some form of mobile entertainment every three months, such as a game, a theme or music.
Magmic Games, a Canadian firm, has developed products for mobile phone manufacturers such as Blackberry, including Brain-Up, Phase 10 and World Poker Tour.
