BT awarded competition tribunal victory

BT awarded competition tribunal victory Mobile phone provider BT has been successful in it appeal to the competition appeal tribunal, which could lead to cheaper mobile phone deals in the future, reports the Guardian.

BT has spoken about the cost of calling mobile phones, previously claiming that customers are being overcharged by £1 billion every year, as well as criticising the cost of terminating contracts.

The tribunal deemed that the pricing levels set by Ofcom for September 2006 to March 2007 should be dismissed, with a decision regarding termination rates to be announced in October.

It was also announced that the tribunal agreed with Ofcom's decision that mobile phone operator 3 should be regulated, although it is a smaller and later entrant to the mobile network.

Earlier in the year, 3 announced that its customers on new 12-month texter plans would be offered unlimited texts, along with bundles from 500 minutes.
