The increasing power of camera phone photography has been celebrated as Sony Ericsson announced the winner of its World View competition.
Wang Feng from Beijing was awarded the prize, a photography trip for two, with her entry Fly Between Me and the Blue Sky.
The judges included Reuters chief photographer David Viggers, who commented on the high standards, suggesting that Wang's picture was a "simple, spontaneous moment captured on a camera phone to produce a visually striking, unusual image".
The UK entry was David Lahn Sorensen's striking image of boules on a beach, which was chosen by magazine Wallpaper in conjunction with Sony Ericsson.
With mobile phones, such as LG's Viewty, which offers five megapixel cameras, the standard of phone photography is rising every year.
Sony Ericsson also ran a competition in conjunction with the Times, which involved equipping reporters with its phones to demonstrate the high quality of phone photography.
