The Carphone Warehouse has announced almost a 20 per cent increase in its mobile phone connections over the first quarter of the year.
Recent figures highlight increased distribution revenues of 11.7 per cent to £706 million to the end of June, with positive connection statistics and subsidiary revenue generators attributed to having achieved the increase.
However, the rate of growth at stores was shown to fall and the firm forecast that this trend would continue for the remainder of the year.
On a more positive note, the company's fixed line revenues rose by almost 50 per cent to £345 million and broadband customers rose in number by 126,000 over the first quarter.
"With the further enhancements to our broadband services we are planning over the coming months, such as our new partnership with Dell, we are excited about the future," said Carphone Warehouse chief Charles Dunstone.
Following the results, the firm's stock volumes increased to about 13.6 million from the usual eight million as rumours of a takeover bid for the group surfaced.
