Children "tracked" with mobile phone spy technology

Children "tracked" with mobile phone spy technology

By Editorial Team (Monday, 28th January 2008)

Two-thirds of parents would be "happy to invest" in software which uses mobile phones to track the whereabouts of their children, according to a new survey by MobileLocators.com.

New methods can use satellite spy technology through mobiles to help parents keep track of exactly where their children are on a "day-to-day basis".

However, the survey also showed that a third of parents were concerned that the technology removed elements of trust and privacy.

Jonathan Cook, boss of MobileLocators.com, which provides the service, countered claims that it was too intrusive.

"In this day and age, concern for security outweighs the worry about the Big Brother phenomenon," he said.

The mobile phone tracking system can be used with any handset after registering it online, with the company claiming it can be used within businesses to "increase staff motivation" as employees know their movements can be followed.
