Improved mobile searching from Google

Improved mobile searching from Google

By Editorial Team (Thursday, 31st January 2008)

Mobile phone users will now be able to use an improved search system on their mobile internet, as Google launches its new service.

The search engine giant is introducing the new service after last year's launch of its operating system Android, making it easier to seek local data, such as restaurant locations and sports results.

A spokesperson for the company told the BBC: "The big thing that people will notice is that they just get the results they want, without them having to think ahead of time what sort of information they are looking for."

Google has already suggested mobile phones are an integral part of the future of the company, saying that mobile advertising could revolutionise marketing.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum, chief executive Eric Schmidt argued that forecasts of a $1 billion (£0.5 billion) mobile advertising industry by 2012 were too low, which could transform the mobile internet for consumers.
