Mobile phone users should be provided with better coverage, by adopting the system of 'roaming' used in Europe, according to senior Tory MPs.
The European system allows mobile phones to automatically switch to a different network, if the user loses signal with their normal operator, reports the Telegraph.
Shadow minister for social enterprise Greg Clark explained: "My bill would encourage mobile phone operators to allow the same roaming between their networks in the UK that their customers enjoy when they travel abroad."
Ofcom has already set targets for mobile phone companies, which have to cover 80 per cent of Britain, although areas such as Wales are being investigated due to complaints over coverage.
The industry regulator took steps earlier in the year to help mobile phone customers, and those looking for a new contract, by pledging steps to end unfair charges on bills, on top of headline prices.
