Mobile phone users living in the Northwich area have been told they can help raise funds for a local hospice and neuromuscular centre by recycling their old handset.
The Northwich Guardian has announced a partnership with envirocharities meaning that every unwanted mobile phone sent in will raise at least three pounds for charity.
Benefiting from the drive will be St Luke's Hospice for the terminally ill and the Neuromuscular Centre in Winsford which provides specialist advice and care.
It has been shown that within the UK there are 90 million unwanted handsets lying in drawers, which can be recycled and reused.
Those currently considering upgrading to a new handset may be interested in using services such as envirocharities, which teams with campaigners and develops a co-branded website for the cause.
Working as part of the Eaxyfone Group, which specialises in the re-use and recycling of phones, it offers a £3 charitable donation for every unwanted mobile received.
