Using the mobile internet to access social networking sites will become a more integral part of our everyday lives, according to an article on their importance in the Times.
It is explained that having immediate access to people's profiles could help networking at parties, businesses overview CVs at conferences or ease an introduction with a handsome stranger at a bar.
Mobile phone users in Berlin can now access social networkers with the aka-aki service, which uses Bluetooth to alert consumers when a fellow member is in the area, while revealing that person's profile.
User Sehnaz Sensan, aged 27, told the Times: "They message me to say hello and I can message back and we can meet up or I can ignore it. It is a way of breaking the ice."
Last year, Orange revealed that more women than men were using digital technology to network and increase business and opportunities.
