The inventor of the mobile phone Martin Cooper has spoken to Reuters about a future he envisages of embedded wireless connections in humans.
Mr Cooper spoke about his vision of the future - when thinking of calling a person will result in their number being automatically dialled and connections will be used to diagnose illnesses.
"Here you've got this wonderful power supply called the human body that's generating energy all the time. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have these devices built into you and powered by your body?," said Mr Cooper.
He made the first call on a mobile phone 35 years ago in New York and now works for his own wireless software firm ArrayComm.
Mr Cooper also worked as a researcher for Motorola for 29 years, the company which recently announced it would be breaking up.
The Independent reported that the mobile phone company could set up a single mobile phone division after news that it was struggling under financial pressures.
