Mobile phone users may soon find it easier to browse and book holidays using their handset, according to a report by the Handy Group.
The organisation has reported an increased interest in travel companies intending to launch a mobile-friendly website within the next 12 months, with around 50 per cent planning an upgrade.
Michael Lacy, chief executive officer of the Handy Group, explained: "Greater connectivity, capability of handsets, mobile-friendly website content and a lower cost to the consumer have all combined to make this the perfect time for companies to launch their mobile strategies."
He added that 69 per cent of business travellers access the internet through their mobile device, according to Amadeus/Association of Corporate Travel Executives, a statistic Mr Lacy said cannot be ignored.
The news could interest customers considering investing in a handset with easy access to the mobile internet.
Meanwhile, companies such as BT are offering special deals for small and medium businesses looking for new mobile devices, such as the Blackberry Internet Service from £25.25 per month.
