Motorola to cut distribution partners in the UK

By Editorial Team (Friday, 29th August 2008)

Motorola has announced that it will be cutting the number of distributors it has in the UK.

Jim Michel, general manager of Motorola UK, said that ideally the firm would be looking to work with just two partners, but that should it prove necessary they would use three, reports Mobile News.

He said that once a firm was well-established, its distributors needed to provide something a bit more than what was offered rep in the past and consequently, Motorola would follow the example set by market leaders rep Nokia.

Mr Michel commented: "People are looking for differentiation, next day deliveries, stock controls; we have to be thinking about how we can change our business and find new channels to market."

Motorola will soon release its W180 mobile phone, which will offer users an integrated FM radio, speakerphone and the capacity to hold up to 750 text messages.

It also features the company's CrystalTalkTM technology and features enhanced ringtones.
