By Editorial Team (Thursday, 29th May 2008)

Mobile phone manufacturer Samsung has revealed its latest S60 model - the business style L870, which was revealed at a summit in Barcelona.

The conference is held for the benefit of those involved in the development of S60 phones - which uses software based on the Symbian OS software, developed for smartphones and used by many mobile phone makers.

Jongin Kim, vice president of the mobile communication devision of Samsung Electronics, explained: "With S60, we can successfully deliver the latest mobile technology with fully customisable applications and intuitive user interfaces."

It was also noted by Matti Vanska, speaking on behalf of Nokia, that the number of devices using the capabilities of S60 now stands at 79, which could increase as the software offers increased possibilities such as context-aware widgets.

Nokia recently announced it was offering an improved version of its Maps programme, available for mobile phone download, which provides navigation for cars and pedestrians around the world.
