Nokia and Microsoft 'working on Zune handset'

By Editorial Team (Tuesday, 5th August 2008)

There are reports that Nokia is working with Microsoft to integrate Zune Marketplace into the Finnish manufacturer's handsets.

Nokia and Microsoft are apparently looking for ways to offer Zune Marketplace content on Nokia’s non-smartphone handsets.

Zune Marketplace has millions of songs, videos, podcasts and television shows.

Similar reports that echo this industry rumour say that Microsoft's decision to open up Zune would not be exclusive to Nokia.

A report on Zunescene's website says that the application could work on a number of devices, including the Xbox 360, PCs and even mp3 players.

Due to Microsoft's protected format, the application does not currently work outside Zune portable media players.

The Zune device is available in 4, 8, or 80 GB versions and boasts a built-in FM radio. Zune software is a digital media jukebox for PCs.
