Nokia is teaming up with film director Spike Lee to produce a film made up of footage recorded on mobile phones.
Members of the public in America are being invited to submit footage which could feature in the three-act film, which is based around the theme of humanity.
Spike Lee said: "I'm interested because its a great collaborative effort. Within five years, new movies will be made with devices like these," he is quoted by the New York Times as saying.
It has been announced that Lee will direct the film through the website, with winning footage expected to be shown in Los Angeles later in 2008.
The Oscar-nominated director is known for work such as 4 Little Girls, Do the Right Thing and She Hate Me.
His film-making career started with a short film, The Answer, in 1980 - after studying at the Tisch School Arts graduate film program, according to IMDB.
