Nokia has announced that the launch of its online gaming service N-gage, will be delayed further into 2008 following technical difficulties.
The service was originally going to be launched in November, as part of Nokia's mobile internet 'Ovi' branding.
"We've identified one software element that needs to be fine-tuned,'' said Kari Tuutti, a spokesman for Espoo, the Finland-based company working on N-Gage.
The mobile gaming service will offer a wide range of games, with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed already confirmed for release next year.
Gregg Sauter, director of publishing at Nokia, explained: "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Mobile game will take advantage of the N-Gage platform's robust native development environment to provide the ultimate mobile gaming experience, including powerful graphics, connectivity and community elements."
The service will be available on N-series phones, as well as other compatible 3rd edition devices from Nokia.
N-Gage is allowing consumers to reserve player names in anticipation of the 2008 launch.
Vodafone Live already offers some online gaming features to mobile internet users, with games such as Need for Speed from EA Games available.
