Finnish phone manufacturer Nokia is set to take the Retail Vendor of the Year Award at an industry event in San Diego this week.
The firm sells more than 1.5 million handsets each day and posted sales close to $20 billion (£10.9 billion) in the second quarter of 2008, which correlates to a four per cent year-over-year increase, reports Channel Web.
Robert Pignataro, Nokia's director of retail channel sales, commented: "Our success in the retail channel is focused on the fact that we have a billion Nokia users worldwide right now."
He added that Nokia's wide price range and its ability to stay ahead of trends were two of the keys to the company's success.
Mr Pignataro expects the growth of Nokia to continue into the fourth quarter and then on into 2009.
Nokia has just announced that it will soon release two new additions to its N series line of mobile phone, the N85 and the N79.
