Mobile company O2 is planning to launch itself into the world of British broadband tv next year, according to media reports today.
The company already offers a broadband service though Be Broadband, and experiments with the new internet tv service which has proved popular in the Czech Republic.
Speaking about the demand for a single service provider for mobile, broadband and tv in his country, Salvadore Angalda, chief executive of Telefonica O2 Czech, told the Independent that the UK could follow suit.
''The UK and Spain are learning from us ... when we launch a product, the UK is watching carefully,'' he said
O2 already enjoys a working relationship with companies such as HBO and Paramount, which could play a part in the future of pay-TV, an increasingly large part of mobile companies' plans.
Orange announced today that it will be delaying the launch of a UK broadband tv service due to development and equipment issues according to the Telegraph.
