Mobile phone manufacturer Samsung has launched a new DivX-compatible handset, it has emerged.
According to reports by Smarthouse, Samsung has released the F500 mobile phone handset, available in the South East Asia market and fully DivX-certified.
Indeed, Samsung believes the F500 is able to offer audio and video quality comparable to a DVD.
DivX is a CODEC for the compression of video, popular because of its ability to achieve compression ratios that do not substantially reduce visual quality.
"High video quality should not just be limited to large TV screens," Jenny Goodridge, mobile marketing manager for Samsung.
"The Ultra Video highlights our passion to leverage our multimedia capabilities to satisfy consumers' leisure and entertainment needs," she added.
Among the other features of the handset is its swivel design and a dual-face screen, which makes use of LCD technology.
The F500 also features 350 megabytes of onboard memory.
