Sony Ericsson has announced that it will be adding five million new tracks to its PlayNow catalogue, thanks to upcoming deals with ten record labels.
The deals, with companies such as Warner Music Group and Sony BMG, will expand the available range for mobile phone customers who wish to pre-listen then download mastertones and music tracks, as well as themes and wallpapers.
"Consumer experience is our absolute priority and we will continue to develop PlayNow arena as a service that appeals to all consumer segments and lifestyle trends," said Martin Blomkvist, Sony Ericsson's head of content acquisition and management.
It is estimated that the PlayNow arena will be available to around 30 international markets by the close of 2008.
It was announced last week that Sony Ericsson would be launching two new phones with specialised radio capabilities, which are aimed at "emerging markets such as India".
