Phones follow fashion, says 3

Mobile phone operator 3 has announced the launch of the new Sony Ericsson K6601, available exclusively on its network, which follows the fashion trend of the season.

The new model comes in lime green and white, following a trend for the colour in the fashion world during spring 2008.

Marketing director for 3 John Penberthy-Smith commented: "For many years, mobile phones meant functions and features - but handsets are increasingly viewed as fashion accessories."

Other models which have followed seasonal trends include the Sony Ericsson K770i Cyber-shot phone, with 3 last autumn, in the key colour purple.

The Sugababes were involved in the launch of the phone, dressing in Henry Holland frocks as the mobiles were shown on the catwalk.

It was recently announced by 3 that it will be re-launching Motorola phones in their stores, with models such as the RAZR2 V9 on offer to mobile phone users nationwide.
