A new mobile phone launched two weeks ago by network operator 3 and internet telecoms company Skype has proved so popular that shops have sold out of the handset.
The 3 Skypephone - which allows users to call Skype users across the globe for free - has sold out at all of 3's shops across the country, Mobile Today reports.
A prepay device, the Skypephone is a fully-featured 3G mobile phone which comes with Skype built in. Customers can contact Skype users across the world for free, provided they top up £10 each month. Shops in London and Newcastle have seen the next batch of phones already pre-sold.
One 3 staff member told the news provider: "Loads of people have walked in and asked what it's all about. I think it's the 'wow' factor when you explain it and tell them it's free, the reaction has been good."
Internet telecoms firm Skype, which is owned by eBay, has over 200 million registered users worldwide.
