T-Mobile reveals green habits of mobile users

T-Mobile reveals green habits of mobile users Mobile provider T-Mobile has revealed that many British people are taking steps to help the environment, as the operator highlights its mobile reuse and recycling scheme.

However, it was also shown that 58 per cent of those asked felt that they could do more to be greener, which could involve recycling old mobile phones.

Certain steps had already been taken by many, as 74 per cent of people claim to use energy saving lightbulbs, while 91 per cent of those aged over 55 are "committed household waste recyclers".

Alison Murray, corporate responsibility manager at T-Mobile, explained that new customers would be provided with a recycling bag to dispose of their old model.

"These old phones will either be refreshed and resold in emerging markets or broken down and recycled. In return, T-Mobile gives each customer, or a charity of their choice, up to £80 per handset," she added.

Earlier this month T-Mobile announced a 2.6 per cent increase in its customer base from last year, bringing the total amount of people using its services to 17 million.
