T-Mobile to launch Blackberry Curve 8900

Mobile phone manufacturer T-Mobile has announced plans to boost its smartphone portfolio with the introduction of the Blackberry Curve 8900.

The thinnest and lightest full-QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone, the handset is the latest in the popular Curve line and features a titanium-coloured finish with chrome highlights.

Its elegant and compact design, complete with full and easy-to-use keyboard, is likely to appeal to business workers in particular.

The phone also comes with a 512MHz processor that offers fast and responsive performance, as well as built-in GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity supporting both voice and data.

As well as its sleek and stylish design, the Curve 8900 boasts the highest resolution available on a BlackBerry smartphone, allowing for a large and vivid colour display.

The handset also packs a 3.2-megapixel camera with image stabilisation, digital zoom, flash and the ability to record and play video.

Music fans will also be impressed by the model's capabilities, with a 3.5mm stereo headset jack and headset, as well as a 256MB memory card.

In addition, the phone supports memory cards of up to 16GB, meaning users can upgrade the original card in order to carry more of their music, pictures and videos on their handset.

"With rich multimedia capabilities, exceptional mobile email and messaging features, enhanced Web browsing, a premium phone and easy access to social networking communities, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 helps you make the most of a busy lifestyle that spans well beyond normal business hours," said Mark Guibert, vice president of Research in Motion.

The new smartphone is expected to arrive in T-Mobile stores in February.

Earlier this week, the company also launched its T-Mobile YouTube G1 Channel, which allows customers to find answers to their mobile phone queries via the internet rather than by ringing a call centre.
