It has been revealed that T-Mobile is set to launch a High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA), reported to be the first of its kind.
The new service could offer mobile phone customers improved speeds when browsing the internet on their handset, with download speeds of around 1.4 Mbps.
T-Mobile chief executive Jim Hyde commented: "We knew mobile broadband would burst on the scene and our continued investment in new technology is paying dividends for customers seeking a fast, consistent service which offers great value."
He added that the improved speeds on offer could also serve customers who use their mobile phone service for sharing videos and photos on social networking sites.
The mobile phone operator recently confirmed its commitment to allowing easy access to social networking websites, when it announced a partnership with Bebo by adding it to its My Social Sites application service.
