Mobile phone customers could soon benefit from faster mobile broadband, thanks to the announcement of an agreement between BT and Vodafone.
As part of the five-year deal, BT Wholesale will provide high-speed connections between the base-stations owned by Vodafone, which will improve bandwidth and speed.
Chief technology officer at Vodafone UK Jeni Mundy explained: "This agreement supports us in our continued drive to expand our market-leading position in sales of mobile internet and broadband products and services."
It was claimed that the service offered by BT Wholesale on behalf of Vodafone can offer backhaul speeds of up to 60Mbit/s.
In February this year, Vodafone announced a mobile mast-sharing agreement with Orange, designed to improve coverage for mobile phone customers in the UK.
The deal with Orange is also believed to hold environmental benefits, with a predicted reduction of mass sites by 15 per cent within two years of the agreement.
