Mobile network provider Vodafone has unveiled a new collaboration designed to raise its profile in the social networking sector.
The company will join forces with MySpace to launch a mobile platform called Vodafone Music Reporter, with users encouraged to share content and enter a competition to appear as a presenter on MTV.
On a social portal hosted by MySpace, music fans at Vodafone-sponsored events such as its TBA concerts will be able to report on their experiences, with users of the website then choosing the best entries. Those responsible for the winning reports will get the chance to join an MTV crew at a gig or festival for a day.
"Vodafone Music Reporter reaches music fans in a way that reflects the latest trends of how music is experienced in the social networking space," stated Vodafone global brand director David Wheldon.
"It allows music fans to interact, showcase their skills and become part of a unique Vodafone music community," he added.
Shares in Vodafone rose by 1.7 per cent on the FTSE this morning following the announcement of its joint venture with MySpace.
