With the new 5610, Nokia will be hoping to improve the fortunes of the XpressMusic range of handsets which have been somewhat overshadowed by Sony Ericsson's range of Walkman mobile phones.
With the new 5610, Nokia will be hoping to improve the fortunes of the XpressMusic range of handsets which have been somewhat overshadowed by Sony Ericsson's range of Walkman mobile phones. The Nokia 5610 XpressMusic certainly has a striking appearance. It does look like it's fallen straight off batman's utility belt. The front of the 5610 is a shimmering black and a thin red trim runs around the side. The slider section of the 5610 has a steel frame which really adds to the durable, tough feel of the phone. The overall build quality is fantastic; you get the feeling that the Nokia 5610 could survive a nuclear war!
Aside from being a highly durable survival machine, the Nokia 5610 also possesses a number of novel features. The first one that might catch your eye is the NaviSlide navigation key on the front of the phone. This key's primary function is to make access to the music player as easy as possible. Simply slide the key to the right to access the inbuilt FM radio and slide to the left to launch the music player. It can also get you back to the main menu.
The meat of the 5610 is obviously the music player and if it didn't deliver the 5610 would be nothing more than a very expensive damp squib. Thankfully for Nokia this isn't the case. The 5610 comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack (which means you can use headphones other than the ones in the box) and the facility to create different playlists. The software on the 5610 is very easy to navigate and putting your favourite tracks on the phone is a breeze. The music player on the 5610 supports most of the major formats and manages to produce clean and crisp audio. There is also a video application and this works very well thanks to the fantastic screen on the 5610. Video is displayed in a great resolution with deep colours and excellent contrast. The screen on the 5610 is capable of showing 16 million colours!
The camera on the 5610 XpressMusic is also an impressive feature. It offers resolution of 3.2 megapixels as well as auto focus software. This helps with close ups and the 5610 manages to get a fair amount of detail in its shots. The video camera however is less impressive and nothing to write home about. All this media functionality is obviously memory intensive so the 5610 features 20MB of internal memory that is expandable thanks to the microSD card slot. The 5610 is even 3G compatible to help you download tracks from the internet in a flash.
The 5610 is a very stylish music phone with excellent media capabilities. Excellent display.
Only 20MB of internal memory.
