Phones this unusual don't come around very often, so Nokia deserve some artistic credit for the new 7500 Prism. The handset looks like a strange prop from a big budget sci-fi movie, it really does look like Darth Vader's TV remote.
The keypad on the 7500 is made up of various diamond shaped buttons that work surprisingly well. The irregular lines and angular shape will inspire reactions of love and hate in equal measure. This is truly the marmite of the mobile phone world, but in an age where most handsets look the same Nokia are to be applauded for taking a risk.
However, once you get past the clever exterior you can see that the Nokia 7500 is somewhat average.
The inbuilt camera is a standard two megapixels, but the software that comes with it is not the best. Things look up slightly with the capable MP3 player that supports all the major file formats. The high build quality on the 7500 extends to the speaker which outputs crisp and clear audio. An FM radio is also included should you get bored of your track selection.
Thankfully the Nokia 7500 has a microSD card slot to hold your pictures and music as well as 30MB of internal memory. Your view on the 7500 Prism will depend on whether you value high style or functionality. In terms of features the 6300 has exactly the same spec as the prism but is available for far less. But the novel design and build quality of the 7500 prism is sure to attract alot of fans. |
