| Samsung's stylish E740 is somewhat difficult to categorize. It is not the most technically advanced handset around but nor is it the most basic. In fact the E740 does the jobs that it's appointed to do and carries them out with a high degree of efficiency. But the handset is not entirely without a sense of fun.
For starters the handset has an incredibly sleek facade that any fashion handset would be proud of. Couple this with excellent build quality on the slide mechanism and you have a phone that won't publicly shame you. The E740 comes equipped with all the tricks that you would associate with a mid range handset. An inbuilt two megapixel camera also makes an appearance and it's solid without being spectacular. The lack of a flash makes taking pictures in bad lighting conditions a bit of a trial but on the whole it's a good basic camera. The E740 also comes equipped with a built in MP3 player and FM radio. The MP3 player supports all of the major file formats and provides clear audio, although it doesn't quite get close to it's illustrious walkman rivals from Sony Ericsson. To conclude, the E740 is a reliable handset that has a competent roster of features that will please almost everyone. If you are someone who demands the latest technological innovations, it would be best if you look elsewhere. |
