The Samsung F700 really blurs the line between pocket multimedia computer and mobile phone, much in the same way that the iPhone does, with a touchscreen, full QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 Megapixel camera and MP3 player.

One of the more distinguishing features of the Samsung F700 is the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The screen switches to landscape mode as soon as you slide the keyboard out, as if it were a micro laptop.
The F700 was the first Samsung handset to feature a big old 3.5" touchscreen display, and turned heads when it was released back in February 2007. The haptic touch feedback feature present – the award-winning Croix user interface – also paved the way for Samsung's later touchscreen offerings, the F490 and the wildly successful Samsung Armani phone. Every tap on the touchscreen responds with a slight buzz, so that you know that your commands and been confirmed – you can adjust the level of vibration from 1 to 5.
Despite boasting an impressive main touchscreen interface, one of the more distinguishing features of the Samsung F700 is that it contains a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, designed to make composing texts messages and emails a hassle free process. The keyboard slides out from the left side of the F700, and you are required to hold it a la 'landscape' format, as if it were a micro laptop. The screen switches to landscape mode as soon as you slide the keyboard out, and back to portrait again when you're done typing.
The landscape viewing mode is also ideal for when browsing the web on the F700, as web pages aren't so squashed and distorted – typing in URLs is also a much more natural and less drawn out affair. Thanks to HSDPA, browsing on the F700 is super quick, and you can drag your finger across the screen to sweep and pan through pages, although panning and scrolling is a more than a little slower than it ought to be.
The Samsung F700 handles all four popular types of messages: SMS, EMS, MMS, and email. Sensibly, a single editor is used for creating the first three; messages are converted from SMS to EMS or MMS by simply changing the colours and formats of fonts, or by attaching a picture. Emails have their own standalone editor.
The music player is also worth of mention, as it makes good use of the aforementioned Croix (which means 'Cross' en Francais mes amies) interface which works as follows: the horizontal axis on the music player screen displays the track running time, and allows you to move to and from certain points of the track by moving your finger across in the appropriate direction (right to skip forwards, left to skip back) Moving along the vertical access adjusts the volume, allowing you to literally turn it up.
Thanks to HSDPA, browsing on the F700 is super quick, and you can drag your finger across the screen to sweep and pan through pages.
The then-standard 3.2 Megapixel camera may feel outmoded by today's 5 Megapixel beasts, but it's a decent camera all the same; it comes equipped with an autofocus feature for maximum potential clarity, and a whole host of additional effects such as sepia, black and white, and negative. Shooting modes include single shot and multi-shot modes, as well as frames. Needless to say, the pics don't look half bad on the 3.5" 240 x 440 screen.
One rather obvious drawback of the F700 is its size, to be expected considering it carries its own full QWERTY keyboard. It is a very pocket unfriendly 112 x 56 x 16 mm and it by no means the slimmest phone on the block.
Ingenious Croix touchscreen UI.
HSDPA compatible.
Full QWERTY keyboard.
Limited internal memory.
The Samsung F700 really blurs the line between pocket multimedia computer and mobile phone, much in the same way that the iPhone does, with a touchscreen, full QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 Megapixel camera and MP3 player.

This is by far the worst phone I've ever had.
all the things they say about it...about it being the way forward and it being a viable alternative to anything Apple produce...RUBBISH.
I've had this since January 2008.
It's been in for repair to the speaker and a software update...that was in the first month
Last week I had it changed for a new one...because it was sluggish, unresponsive and frustrating.
Having had that new phone a couple of days...it's worse...NOW it cuts out altogether.
In the couple of days I've had it, it's turned itself off 3 times.
The only way to get it back on is to remove the battery and reinsert it.
So now...a recap....
I will never have another Samsung product as long as I've a hole in me arse.
I've tried contacting them...and just like Motorola before them...who Samsung make look a competent well run business...they refuse to aknowledge my mails...mainly because they're complaints
Oh and just to make things worse...none of the websites (Gambling) I use have downloads for it, rendering it useless for my needs.
Garbage phone....don't touch this one...even if you do nothing will happen

Good real good, much better than probably, most people think. Its all interface this, and, interface that, since the iphone's come along. But afterall they are all mobile phones and mini computers,so,they have to be good,or at least, reasonably good at what they have been designed for. This phone does everything good, really good, good touch screen, good internet, good music, good video recording, and a good camera. My mate has two phones Nokia n95,and an iphone, but even he was blown away by the samsung. So he went out and bought one.I think enough said,if you have an iphone sorry,a hamster is pretty, but what good is it only to look at.
