Our Review of the Samsung I550

The Samsung i550 is a bit of a departure in style for Samsung. The first thing that strikes you is that it looks nothing like the super successful slide models that have made them such a force to be reckoned with in the mobile phone market. Instead the i550 is a candy bar style handset with keypad buttons that are reminiscent of Sony Ericsson's W880i walkman phone.

Samsung has come up trumps with a roster of impressive features. The i550 features an excellent 3.15 megapixel camera with built in flash and video capture. But most impressive is the MP3 player which is one of the few available that supports every file format from WMA to ASF.

Another high end feature that the i550 posesses is HSDPA compatibility. This is seems to be becoming something of a trend amongst mobile phone manufacturers as all the newest top end handsets have this capability. HSDPA enables the raid transfer of data over the already quick 3G network, so if you are a person downloads alot of music, it's a must. Storing those files is handled by the 150 MB of internal memory that is expandable using the microSD card slot.

Although it takes a bit of getting used to in stylistic terms, the i550 is a solid handset with a great set of features.
