The U600 follows on from the immensely popular ultra-thin Samsung slider, the D900, and, at just 10.9mm the U600 is even slimmer, making it one of the thinnest slide phones on the market. Samsung have also decreased the width of the phone by 2mm – an impressive feat, especially when you consider the number of features that Samsung have managed to cram into such a small space.
Another addition to the Samsung 'Ultra' range of phones, the slimeline U600 continues the current thin waif-like handset trend. The U600 follows on from the immensely popular ultra-thin Samsung slider, the D900, and, at just 10.9mm the U600 is even slimmer, making it one of the thinnest slide phones on the market. Samsung have also decreased the width of the phone by 2mm – an impressive feat, especially when you consider the number of features that Samsung have managed to cram into such a svelte little body. The stilletto thin U600 is available in a veritable spectrum of metallic hues, including Sapphire Blue, Crystal Blue, Copper Gold, Garnet Red, Neutral White, Soft Black, and the standard Platinum Silver.
Weighing just 81g, the U600 is 10g lighter than its predecessor – amazingly lightweight for a slide phone. Touch sensitive buttons make up the well laid-out keypad; they look very sleek but take quite a lot of getting used to, and it's easy to hit the wrong button by mistake. That said, once you get used to it, it's not really a problem, although if combination keypad and touchscreen elements are not your thing, then you might want to check out the D900, or opt for the more recent Samsung G600, if taking pics on the go is your thing. The slide action feels satisfying and the body of the phone is surprisingly durable, despite its wafer-thin size.
The U600 has 60MB of internal memory which is enough for about 15 music tracks, but it can be expanded by way of the microSD card slot – handy for storing music files and pictures. The largest memory card possible is a 2GB card, with storage for around 500 songs. The built-in MP3 player supports the majority of popular file formats, MP3, ACC, ACC+ and eAAC+, (but not WMA) and produces a clear, well-rounded sound on the stereo headset provided with the phone, or on the built-in loudspeaker which features a digital power amplifier made by world-famous Danish high-end audio product manufacturers Bang & Olufsen. Support for stereo Bluetooth means you can also listen to music on a pair of wireless headphones. Navigating your way around the player is easy, and you can create playlists of up to 30 tracks.
The display screen measures 2.2" across, has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, and is capable of reproducing images in 262,144 colours. Pictures taken on the 3.2 Megapixel turn out nicely; imaging is further enhanced thanks to the inclusion of a powerful LED flash and autofocus, meaning that whatever the lighting conditions, you'll be able to easily snap away. It doesn't match up to the snapper on the Nokia N65 or Sony Ericsson K800i, but is nonetheless one of the better cameras on a phone. On the downside, the camera takes a couple of seconds to take a picture, meaning that fast-moving objects come out as a blur.
The TV-Out option enables you to view your pictures and videos directly on a TV screen. Wireless photo transfer is also available on PictBridge compatible printers. The Quad Band U600 has combined GSM and even EDGE support in its ethereal frame for good download speeds. Other nifty features include the messaging options, with support for email attachments and a document viewer for viewing (but not editing) MS Office, PDF and HTML files. Samsung's latest baby takes the familiar visuals of the other Samsung sliders and ups the ante quite considerably. Taking into account the features and innovative form of the phone, it's safe to say that the U600 is a potential hit.
Advanced music player; built-in FM Radio.
Touch screen proved difficult to use; customers have experienced problems with the phone’s software.

Since I purchased this phone I have noticed that the reaction speed is very slow especially on the memory card and also it brakes very easily. it has already broken 4 times and I have only had it for a few months. I do not recommend this phone.

I have experienced no problems with my Samsung U600. I use the music, camera and video facilities every day, as well as making phone calls and texts. Considering the amount of usage it gets, the battery life is marvellous, and the case is not scratched or worn at all. I am happy with the amount of space available for storage. It suits me fine, as I change my tunes regularly and only have a few on at a time.
I've found with other mobiles that they are too heavy or bulky to be able to text comfortably but this one lies nicely in your hand and is very light, and not bulky at all.
The flash is useful for taking night time photos, like when you are in a party situation and even in subdued light the pictures are well defined.
I would recommend this phone to anyone, especially people who care about what their accessories look like.

I think the Samsung U600 is a great phone with many features. Its small, lighweight design is surprising since it is a slidephone; however, its battery life is not that good and its keypad is fairly hard to get used to.
It has many features and has a good value for money. It is also fairly reliable. On the downside, if taking pictures and videos are your thing then this is not a good phone. A better phone for taking pics would be the Nokia N95 but in all the U600 is a great phone!

The Samsung U600 is a cracking little phone! It's small, lightweight and easily fits in your pocket. The battery life is good unless you are constantly using it - in which case short battery life is to be expected. It's got net access, bluetooth, can play video and music files - it's everything I could want in a phone and it looks great too!

Stylish phone but wont look good with a bloke. Has decent camera but the lack of full screen video is a step back. Everything else is standard, low sound so headphones are essential.
