The K810i is hardly an improvement on its K800i predecessor, and certainly not worth upgrading to. In short, you may as well stick to the earlier K800i rather than forking out on a gimmick.

The Sony Ericsson juggernaut rolls on with the unstoppable momentum of inevitability. The latest off the production line is the K810, the sparkling new upgrade to the now legendary K800i.
The Sony Ericsson juggernaut rolls on with the unstoppable momentum of inevitability. The latest off the production line is the K810, the sparkling new upgrade to the now legendary K800i. Thankfully the K810 does not destroy its big brother's legacy.
On first look the K810 has taken obvious stylistic cues from the K800. The candy bar design returns albeit in a considerably slimmer form. The two multimedia keys at the top of the handset also appear again. This time however they are much more prominent and even have blue icons stating their functions. The keypad is vastly different and has more in common with the W880i. The buttons have a rather unusual circular design but they are thankfully larger than the buttons on the W880i’s keypad. However the problems with the keypad arguably lie with the most important keys: the soft keys and the joystick.
The joystick sits beneath the display and is sunk in so it is level with the keys surrounding it. This presents huge usability issues as the joystick is very hard to push down, no matter if you have fat fingers or not. You have to exert a considerable amount of force to get the joystick to do anything at all. This flaw is also repeated with the soft keys, which really don’t live up to their name. The keys are stiff, have very little sense of feedback, and take a lot of force to make them work.
The excellent 3.2 megapixel camera with xenon flash makes a triumphant comeback. All the camera modes from the K800, such as ‘bestpic’ make a welcome return. Functions such as autofocus are actually slightly better but the difference is negligible. 3G support is also included and the internet browser is capable and can handle most website. The TFT screen is clear and sharp in the vast majority of light conditions.
The inclusion of the M2 memory card slot means that if you had a K800 you can port over all your photos and music tracks onto your new phone The K810 is a good, if not spectacular successor to the K800i. The slim design will certainly appeal to new customers and those of us who love the K800 will be tempted to make another purchase. Unfortunately it would be best to hold fire and stick to the K800i.
Great 3.2 megapixel camera and 3G compatibility.
The keypad will not be to everyones taste as the buttons have an unusual look and feel.
The K810i is hardly an improvement on its K800i predecessor, and certainly not worth upgrading to. In short, you may as well stick to the earlier K800i rather than forking out on a gimmick.

I've always had Nokia phones up until this one, but after 10 minutes of playing about I'm not going back. Great phone, the menu's are really easy to use and far more sensible than on previous phones I've owned, it's got a really good battery life and a strong signal almost everywhere. The camera is brilliant, especially the flash, but the video mode isn't of the highest quality.
