Overview Specifications
The Sony Ericsson W950i is one of the flagships in Sony Ericsson's Walkman range, and as such comes in the regulation black and orange uniform of this successful series of music phones. Its main feature is the Sony Walkman music player which supports the majority of audio files – MP3, AAC, AAC+, and eAAC+. An exterior jogwheel and dedicated music keys are mounted on the side of the phone, and the graphic equaliser with Mega Bass™ makes for remarkable sound quality; many portable MP3 players tend to be trebly and tinny – not this baby. The sound quality of the handset is excellent, amazing considering it measures just 106 x 54 x 15 mm and weighs 112g.

The W950i features the Opera web browser, with 3G providing fast internet speeds – various third party attachments can be downloaded, including push email. The music player and internet browser and all other standard phone functions are accessed through the large touchscreen display (2.6" across) which has a resolution of 240 x 320 and can display images in 262k colours.

The screen comes with a TFT coating which is just as well as a stylus is also provided for use with the touch screen, which also supports handwriting recognition – anyone remember the Apple Newton? Well, this is like one of those, except that it can play music, and it's also a phone…

The screen also displays the album cover art to accompany the song you are playing, iPod style. Bluetooth, USB, Fast Port, and Infra-red connectivity is also included for maximum file transfer capabilities. A generous 4 gigabytes of memory is included with the phone – and as there is no camera included, this means plenty of space for audio files.

The W950i is a dedicated music phone with long battery life and plenty of space for storing tracks; a strong addition to the Sony Ericsson Walkman phone series.
