We aim to display as many tariffs available on the market as possible, depending on the data available to Mobile Phones. Legacy tariffs are excluded as well as some more granular tariff information such as international out of bundle rates.

We aim to display as many existing customer tariffs as possible, depending on the data available to Mobile Phones. Existing customers should check with their current provider for additional customer tariffs.

We aim to display as many promotional extras with tariffs as possible, depending on the data available to Mobile Phones. Some promotional extras may not be displayed.

Many discounts and promotions on Mobile Phones will be included in the tariff pricing structure. Automatic cashback is included in the average monthly cost, first-year cost and total contract cost calculations. Some promotions such as gift cards and redemption cashback will need to be claimed by the customer after the tariff is purchased, therefore, we do not include these in our pricing structures. The tariff supplier will be able to give full details of how these promotional extras should be claimed.

Tariffs featuring 'unlimited' allowances may be subject to traffic management or fair usage policies. Please see our guide for more information on how this works.

SIM only deals are limited to 30 day or longer, excluding shorter plans and 'Pay as you go' tariffs.

All prices shown are inclusive of VAT.

Prices shown are based on the assumption a user will not exceed their inclusive allowance. Costs for additional out-of-allowance usage are provided for information only.

If you choose to pay via a method other than direct debit or you would like itemised or paper billing, you may incur additional charges to those displayed on Mobile Phones.

A supplier may increase the price during your contract, but if this is excessive you should be able to exit without penalty. Ofcom has more information on how to complain about your provider and comparative information on complaints handling.

Our Huawei P20 Review

If you're a serious photographer you might want to think about paying that bit extra and opting for the P20 Pro instead with its absolutely phenomenal triple-lens camera.

Otherwise, Huawei's regular P20 is a fantastic all-rounder with a brilliantly glossy nearly edge-to-edge display, lightning-fast performance and incredibly high-quality dual-lens camera.

Their EMUI OS, which was previously subjected to a lot of criticism, is better than ever now it's been very heavily based on the excellent Android Oreo 8.1 so it feels like a real competitor to devices like the Samsung S8 and Google Pixel 2.

Huawei P20: Display

The P20’s stunning 5.8-inch display is very nearly edge-to-edge with incredibly slim bezels surrounding it on all sides and a small iPhone X-like black notch protruding out onto it at the top which houses a 24MP front-facing camera.

Perhaps realising that this notch isn’t to everyone’s tastes, Huawei have wisely chosen to include a smart little feature which allows you to disguise it completely by blacking out a small strip of the display either side.

A glossy Full HD+ resolution and OLED technology allows this nearly edge-to-edge display to work to the very best of its abilities.

Everything is rendered in wonderfully crisp, clear detail and colours look absolutely superb, with great contrast levels and plenty of rich depth, making the P20 absolutely ideal for anyone looking to do a lot of HD streaming or gaming.

Huawei P20: Camera

Huawei has again partnered with legendary camera maker Leica for the P20’s brilliant dual-lens rear camera and 24MP front-facing selfie camera. While they’re not quite on the same level as the P20 Pro’s outstanding triple-lens setup, both will produce absolutely fantastic shots in all conditions.

The two rear lenses stand at 12MP with a f/1.8 aperture and 20MP with a f/1.6 aperture respectively, and work together or separately depending on what mode you’re in to efficiently capture very sharp and beautifully vibrant images without any annoying shutter lag.

An intelligent AI automatically switches to the appropriate camera mode upon sensing that you’re about to take a photo and far from being gimmicky, it’s actually very accurate and they all work well.

Any video you shoot will appear just as smooth and polished with AIS (Artificial Intelligence Stabilization Huawei’s version of OIS) and both glossy 4k at 30fps and artistic super-slow-mo at 960fps formats are available.

Huawei P20: Design

Unlike the P10 which was made entirely of solid aluminum, the pleasantly lightweight P20 is all super-shiny polished glass and softly rounded chrome edges which really work to make it feel like a sleek, high-end device.

Thankfully, both the back and the front have been sufficiently hardened, the former with a sheet of super-strength Gorilla Glass 5, so it’s nowhere near as fragile as it sounds and will easily survive that inevitable, but no less heart-stopping, accidental drop.

Here in the UK it’s available in three different colours, Pink Gold, Twilight and Black, and has its nicely responsive home button located in a small black bezel stretching across the front.

There’s no headphone jack and Huawei have opted to go for dual-sim capacity instead of an expandable MicroSD card slot. Unfortunately, it’s also got a rating of IP53 which means it’s only splashproof and not waterproof.

Huawei P20: Performance

Huawei has fitted out the P20 with Kirin 970 octa-core chipset and an impressive 4GB of RAM which are able to work flawlessly together to offer a brilliantly high-power performance.

Everything from video calling and emailing to uploading photos and browsing the web occurs without a second thought and you’re able to take full advantage of that lovely display with all kinds of graphically-intensive games.

A single charge of the P20’s 3,400mAh battery should easily see you right through the day but there are still a number of handy ways, like Power Saving and Ultra Power Saving mode, which allow you stretch it out even further.

While there’s unfortunately no wireless charging, the P20 does come equipped with fast charging so you can quickly top up your device whenever. As mentioned above, there’s no option to expand the P20’s internal storage but an impressive 128GB of memory should be way more than enough.

Huawei P20: Features and OS

Running on the P20 is Huawei’s custom EMUI 8.1 OS which is based heavily on Android Oreo 8.1.

You’ll have to manually switch on the app drawer and there’s the standard selection of Huawei’s own inoffensive yet non-deletable stock apps, but otherwise it mostly feels like the usual very fast and intuitive Android experience.

All of the Google branded apps, like Movies and TV and Music, are available to download for free through Huawei’s AppGallery store and a few of Oreo’s best features like Picture-in-Picture support for Netflix and a convenient Always On display have also been ported over.

Other standouts include Huawei’s nicely responsive facial unlocking system, knuckle gestures and the immensely useful IR blaster which allows you to remotely control all kinds of smart devices.

How much is the Huawei P20?

The P20 is one of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer’s premium flagship devices meaning that buying it outright is naturally going to be quite expensive and will likely cost you upwards of £600.

Therefore, despite the flexibility that SIM Only and pay-as-you-go deals offer, we definitely recommend that anyone thinking about picking one up opts for a pay monthly contract.

As well as being immensely convenient, there’s such a huge variety of them available that you’re sure to find one at a very reasonable price containing all of the minutes, data and texts you need with just a little bit of shopping around.

Huawei P20: Our verdict

The P20 is a great-looking and fantastically well-rounded device with a beautifully vivid edge-to-edge display and nicely speedy performance.

While it’s true that the P20 Pro’s camera is better, the snapper here shouldn’t be completely disregarded and is still very much worthy of a top-tier smartphone allowing you to capture some incredibly impressive shots.
