Despite being commonly known as a broadband provider, TalkTalk also offers mobile tariffs. These include a range of pay monthly and pay as you go deals, as well as sim-only offers and even mobile broadband subscriptions for tablets. 

History

Originally founded in 2003 after breaking away from the Carphone Warehouse, the firm launched its mobile platform in 2010. Working on the same network as Vodafone, TalkTalk offers a stable mobile service, despite not being its main platform. TalkTalk Mobile also works in conjunction with the standard broadband service, with customers able to take ‘quad-play’ deals that are made up of broadband, landline, TV and mobile. 

Perks for customers

If you’re an existing TalkTalk customer, TalkTalk Mobile offers a number of perks that can save you money on your monthly bill. This includes free calls to existing TalkTalk mobile and landline customers and price reductions on new smartphones. 

Whilst not being the most well known provider in terms of mobile services and being perhaps limited compared to the big hitters such as Vodafone and O2, TalkTalk still offers a wide range choice when considering a subscription. If you’re buying a pay monthly deal, TalkTalk offers some of the cheapest tariffs around, allowing you to take minutes, texts and data at little over £10. Unlike other companies, TalkTalk doesn’t offer huge amounts of data, but those who want to use more can purchase a “boost” that delivers extra data, texts and minutes. 

Sim-only deals

With TalkTalk, you’ll also be able to purchase a sim-only deal, meaning you only pay for a sim card tariff which you use in an existing phone. These are some of the cheapest you can find, offering minutes, texts and even data at a fraction of the price of other providers. If you have an unlocked phone and simply need a subscription to go with it, a TalkTalk sim-only offer could be for you. 

One of the few downsides of TalkTalk Mobile is the lack of variety in the phones that it offers. If you’re looking for the latest iPhone or Samsung Galaxy, it’s best to look elsewhere. TalkTalk is perfect if you’re looking for something more simple, on a budget or interested in purchasing a backup phone.
