Who we are

Mobile Phones is a dedicated online comparison service originally designed, developed and launched in 2008. In 2015 we revamped the website in order to improve the overall experience for our users, and make it even easier to find a great deal.

We believe in providing honest, impartial comparison, and pride ourselves on being a reliable resource with accurate information on the best offers around. We know that continuing to deliver on this and helping people get great value for money is the best way to see our customers come back to use us again in the future.

How we make money

Mobile Phones has commercial relationships in place with a number of phone retailers. If you use a link on our website to purchase a product from one of these retailers we will get paid commission. However, this does not affect the comparison service.

Using our website is free and will not alter the price of any products. There are some retailers who will not pay us commission, but this does not impact the results you see. We always display the best deals available, so you can benefit from a fair and transparent comparison service.

Our Ofcom-accredited price comparison

We are delighted that our mobile phone price comparison service has been accredited by industry regulator Ofcom. The regulator’s accreditation scheme recognises comparison calculators that are “accessible, accurate, transparent and comprehensive”, so it is a mark of approval, and one we are proud to have received.

In order to achieve the accreditation we have worked hard across a number of areas. We’ve carefully developed the site’s clarity, usability and functionality, in order to ensure that our customers get a great deal, and of course come back to us in future. Delivering a transparent, honest service is integral to Ofcom accreditation, so it’s hugely satisfying to be recognised in this regard.

How our comparison works

These include Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) who supply the mobile network, Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) who offer their own services using another mobile network and Resellers who buy new and refurbished mobile phones and offer deals for various tariffs supplied by MNOs and MVNOs.

Mobile Phones provides a huge range of deals to give you plenty of choice. In order to do this and maximise the options available we have built our own deals engine, which refreshes at specified regular intervals.

We update our deals 12 times a day, and that’s 365 days a year. More specifically, we have designed the engine to update every 2 hours, on the even hours, ensuring an excellent level of accuracy for the deals displayed to our users.

We are currently searching 317,630 live deals.

About our algorithm

There are thousands of deals to choose from, so we rank them to make it easier to compare. We look at average monthly cost, including additional costs such as paying off a new phone.

The total monthly cost (monthly tariff + any cost for a new phone - any monthly discounts) is multiplied by the total contract length. We then add the upfront cost, and subtract any automatic cashback. This number is then divided by the total contract length.

The 'Featured' sorting function uses our algorithm to provide the best deals based on the bundle, cost and supplier.

Whilst we will automatically rank deals by cheapest average monthly cost, you have the option to re-order them according to your preferences. You can also further filter and refine deals using the comparison tools featured on our site.

Whilst we may include sponsored deals, which are ones that will pay extra commission, we’ll always show you the best deals available based on your search.

Data Protection Legislation

We are fully committed to fulfilling our obligations under the Equalities Act 2010.

In compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the rules of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Mobile Phones meets all the requirements for processing your personal data and information.
