On 10th September 2025 Apple held its ‘Awe-Dropping’ iPhone 17 event, finally revealing the next flagship Apple device - alongside a bunch of other exciting tech. Here’s everything that was revealed at the event.
iPhone 17
Let’s start with the big one - the iPhone 17. Apple’s latest iteration of its flagship device is packing some impressive hardware and offers some noticeable improvement over previous versions.
The big headlines are:
- 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion (up to 120 Hz) and durable Ceramic Shield 2 glass
- A19 chip, offering 50% faster CPU and more than double GPU speed compared to older models
- Rear 48MP Dual Fusion camera system - main and ultrawide with macro and 2x optical-quality telephoto
- Front 18MP Center Stage camera, enabling landscape selfies and simultaneous front/rear recording
All-in-all it’s a package that raises the bar, without much in the way of standout upgrades. The most significant improvements are in the camera setup - it’s smarter, more versatile and geared towards both everyday users and professionals.
The base model iPhone 17 comes with 256GB storage and starts at around £799. Pre-orders are available from 12th September, with devices shipping from 19th September.

iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max
Revealed at the same time, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max versions take things even further. With powerhouse processing and an even better camera rig, these enhanced versions pack a serious punch.
Here are the main points:
- A19 Pro chipset - Apple’s fastest chip yet - is paired with a vapour chamber cooling system for more efficient processing, better thermal performance and extended battery life.
- Triple 48Mp Fusion camera system - with wide, ultrawide and telephoto lenses - paired with the base model’s 18MP front camera offers some tantalising image-capture options.
- 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display (Pro Max).
Of course all of those improvements come with a hefty price tag, but the extra money may be worth it for some people - that Triple Fusion camera rig in particular will surely be of interest to creators and filmmakers.
Both the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max come with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage capacity options, while the Pro Max can be purchased with an absolutely staggered 2TB. They start at £1,099 (Pro) and £1,199 (Pro Max) respectively and, like the base model, pre-orders will be available from 12th September, with devices shipping from 19th September.
iPhone Air
Perhaps the most eye-catching announcement from the night was the iPhone Air, Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever. It’s shockingly slight at just 5.6mm and 165g, but is made of stern stuff - ultralight, ultra tough Grade 5 spacecraft titanium to be exact!
It also packs a punch too, with Pro-level processing and performance and an excellent battery life.
Pre-orders for this one are also up on the 12th September, with availability from 19th September. It ships with three storage options - 256GB, 512GB and 1TB - and starts at £999.
Accessories and Ecosystem
Finally, to cap things off Apple also announced a handful of updates to their ever-expanding line of accessories and ecosystem devices. Here are the highlights:
- AirPods Pro 3 - The next generation of buds come with enhanced noise cancellation, heart-rate monitoring and real-time translation capabilities.
- Apple Watch Series 11, Ultra 3, SE 3 - Also getting an upgrade is Apple’s range of smart watches. They’ll now feature things like hypertension alerts, sleep tracking, upgraded displays and 5G and satellite connectivity (in the Ultra).
Pre-Order and Release Dates
As we’ve mentioned throughout, pre-orders for all devices go live on 12th September 2025. And you won’t have to wait long after pre-ordering, as all devices are due to become available only a week later, on 19th September 2025.
