Samsung returned to San Francisco yesterday for its first major showcase of the year, unveiling the highly anticipated Galaxy S26 series alongside new Galaxy Buds and a deeper vision for AI-powered mobile tech.
While new hardware grabbed attention, the real focus was clear: Samsung is evolving from simply adding AI features to building phones that actively assist you throughout the day.
Galaxy Unpacked 2026 marks the company’s boldest step yet into what it calls a more “agentic” AI era.
Here’s everything announced.
Galaxy S26 Series

The centrepiece of the event was the new Galaxy S26 line-up, made up of the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Across all three devices, Samsung is focusing on refined performance, smarter software and tighter AI integration within One UI.
Series highlights:
- Next-generation flagship processors (region dependent)
- More powerful on-device AI via upgraded NPU
- Enhanced computational photography
- Deeper Gemini and Samsung AI integration
- Continued premium AMOLED display technology
Galaxy S26 & Galaxy S26+
The Galaxy S26 and S26+ refine last year’s formula, delivering meaningful improvements rather than dramatic redesigns.
Performance gets a boost thanks to updated chipsets and stronger Neural Processing Units, allowing more AI processing to happen directly on the device. This means faster results, improved responsiveness and better privacy protection, as fewer tasks rely on the cloud.
However, while they are upgraded, they’ve taken a step back from last year’s S25, where the same chipset was found across the full range in all territories.
For the S26 range, they’ve reverted back to giving the Ultra the best chipset in all countries, while only those in the US and Canada will get the same chipset if they opt for the S26 and S26+. The S26 Ultra will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, as will the S26 and S26+ in the US and Canada. Otherwise, it will be Samsung’s very own Exynos 2600.
Displays remain a key strength. Samsung continues with vibrant AMOLED panels featuring adaptive refresh rates for ultra-smooth scrolling and gaming. Peak brightness has improved again, making outdoor visibility stronger in bright conditions.
Camera upgrades lean heavily into AI-powered photography. Improved low-light capture, smarter scene recognition and natural language photo editing tools allow users to adjust images with simple prompts — removing distractions or enhancing backgrounds without third-party apps.
Battery optimisation also benefits from AI learning. The phones adapt to usage habits, prioritising performance or efficiency depending on your routine.
S26 & S26+ highlights:
- Faster CPU, GPU and upgraded NPU performance
- Improved low-light photography and AI editing tools
- Brighter AMOLED displays with adaptive refresh rates
- Smarter battery optimisation based on usage patterns
- Enhanced on-device privacy processing

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is where Samsung pushes innovation further.
The headline addition is a built-in Privacy Display, which narrows viewing angles at the touch of a button. Designed with commuters and business users in mind, it helps protect sensitive content from prying eyes without sacrificing screen brightness or clarity when viewed head-on.
Under the hood, the Ultra features even stronger AI performance thanks to a significantly upgraded NPU. This enables real-time summarisation, translation, contextual suggestions and advanced editing tools with minimal delay.
The camera system also sees Ultra-level improvements. Enhanced zoom capabilities, upgraded sensors and smarter AI scene detection strengthen Samsung’s position as one of the leaders in mobile photography. Video capture benefits from improved stabilisation and intelligent processing, making 8K recording and advanced editing more accessible.
The S Pen remains part of the Ultra experience, now benefiting from tighter AI integration for productivity tasks like summarising handwritten notes or generating formatted text.
S26 Ultra highlights:
- Built-in Privacy Display with adjustable viewing angles
- Substantial NPU upgrade for faster on-device AI
- Enhanced zoom and AI-powered video stabilisation
- Advanced photo editing via natural language prompts
- Continued S Pen integration with smarter productivity tools

AI Takes Centre Stage

AI dominated Galaxy Unpacked 2026.
Samsung introduced a stronger focus on “agentic AI” - technology that anticipates actions instead of simply reacting to commands. A new feature called Now Nudge offers contextual suggestions based on what’s happening on-screen, helping users complete tasks faster.
Call Assist tools can summarise conversations, transcribe key points and screen unknown numbers. Document scanning has also been enhanced with smarter text recognition and organisation features.
Samsung’s collaboration with Google continues to expand, bringing deeper Gemini integration across apps. This enables more fluid, multi-step actions such as searching, summarising and drafting without jumping between platforms.
Crucially, Samsung emphasised privacy. Much of this intelligence runs on-device, protected by Knox security and enhanced encrypted storage.
AI highlights:
- “Now Nudge” proactive task suggestions
- AI call summarisation and screening
- Improved document scanning and organisation
- Deeper Gemini multi-app integration
- Stronger on-device privacy via Knox security
AI is no longer a feature add-on - it’s the foundation of the Galaxy experience.
Galaxy Buds4 & Galaxy Buds4 Pro
Samsung also refreshed its audio line-up with the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, designed to complement the smarter Galaxy ecosystem.
Both models feature upgraded audio drivers and improved adaptive noise cancellation. AI enhancements automatically adjust sound profiles based on your surroundings - whether you’re commuting, working or relaxing.
Voice clarity during calls has been strengthened through intelligent noise filtering that isolates speech from background noise. Gesture controls and improved voice commands make everyday interaction more seamless.
The Buds 4 Pro adds enhanced spatial audio and tighter Galaxy ecosystem integration, allowing smoother switching between Samsung devices.
Battery efficiency has also improved, promising longer listening sessions per charge.
Buds4 highlights:
- Enhanced adaptive noise cancellation
- AI-powered sound environment adjustments
- Improved voice clarity for calls
- Seamless switching between Galaxy devices
- Longer battery life per charge
