The Google Pixel 11 Pro XL takes everything great about the Pixel 11 Pro and makes it bigger, pairing Google's best cameras and AI features with a spacious 6.8-inch display.
Our Google Pixel 11 Pro XL Review
The Google Pixel 11 Pro XL is the largest conventional flagship in Google's 2026 line-up, offering much the same premium experience as the Pixel 11 Pro but with a bigger display and a form factor better suited to gaming, streaming and productivity.
Compared with the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Google has concentrated on refinement. The new Tensor G6 processor, upgraded main and telephoto cameras, brighter display and latest Gemini Intelligence features all improve the experience, although anyone expecting a complete reinvention may be disappointed.
The choice between the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL largely comes down to size. Both share Google's most advanced camera system and flagship features, but the XL gives you considerably more screen space for those who don't mind carrying a larger phone.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL: Design
The Pixel 11 Pro XL sticks closely to Google's established design, with rounded corners, a premium metal frame and the distinctive camera bar stretching across the back.
Google has refined that camera bar this year, making it thinner and giving it an edge-to-edge glass finish. Improved scratch resistance also helps address durability concerns from previous Pixels.
At around 226g, this is understandably a substantial handset, although it is slightly lighter than the 232g Pixel 10 Pro XL. It retains IP68 water and dust resistance, making it suitably protected for a premium flagship.
There's also Google's new HiLight LED built around the camera flash, providing visual alerts for notifications and certain Gemini interactions. It's a distinctive addition, although its usefulness will depend on how much Google expands its functionality over time.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL: Display
The Pixel 11 Pro XL features a large 6.8-inch Super Actua LTPO OLED display with an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate, delivering everything you'd expect from a premium flagship screen.
Colours are rich, text is razor sharp and the adaptive refresh rate keeps everything from scrolling to gaming feeling smooth while reducing power consumption when a high refresh rate isn't required.
The size is the key difference compared with the 6.3-inch Pixel 11 Pro. The XL is noticeably better suited to streaming films, gaming, photo editing and split-screen multitasking, although the smaller Pro is naturally easier to use one-handed.
Compared with the Pixel 10 Pro XL, the fundamental experience hasn't changed dramatically, but improved brightness helps outdoor visibility. The previous model already offered an excellent 6.8-inch 1-120Hz panel with 3,300-nit peak brightness, so Google is building on a very strong starting point.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL: Camera
The Pixel 11 Pro XL shares Google's flagship triple-camera setup with the Pixel 11 Pro:
- 50MP main camera
- 48MP ultrawide camera
- 48MP 5x telephoto camera
- 42MP front camera
Although those megapixel figures look very familiar alongside the Pixel 10 Pro XL, there are meaningful changes underneath.
Google has introduced a new main sensor, while the redesigned 48MP telephoto uses a larger sensor offering around 30% greater light sensitivity. Portrait Mode is now available at 5x too, providing considerably more flexibility when photographing people.
Tensor G6 and Google's latest imaging models also push Pro Zoom up to 120x, increasing from the 100x maximum offered by the Pixel 10 Pro XL.
Google remains particularly strong with computational photography, and new software features complement the hardware improvements. The result is an extremely versatile camera phone capable of excellent results whether you're taking everyday snaps, portraits or attempting to capture something far in the distance.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL: Performance
The Pixel 11 Pro XL is powered by Google's new Tensor G6 chipset, replacing the Tensor G5 used throughout the Pixel 10 range. It launches with Android 17 and Google's latest Gemini Intelligence features.
Everyday performance is quick and responsive, and the combination of the large display and Google's software makes the XL particularly good for multitasking, editing photos and making use of AI features.
As with previous Tensor-powered Pixels, however, Google's priority isn't simply achieving the highest benchmark scores. Testing suggests that Tensor G6 still trails leading Apple and Qualcomm chips in areas such as intensive graphics performance, making devices like the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra potentially stronger options for serious mobile gamers.
There's also an unusual difference between storage configurations. The 256GB model comes with 12GB RAM, while 512GB and 1TB versions step up to 16GB RAM.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL: Battery & Charging
The Pixel 11 Pro XL packs a 5,115mAh battery, compared with the 5,200mAh capacity of the Pixel 10 Pro XL.
That means capacity has technically moved backwards, although improvements to Tensor G6 efficiency and Google's software optimisation help compensate for the reduction. Google rates the device for more than 30 hours of use, but demanding users making heavy use of the display, camera or gaming features may still find themselves charging daily.
Charging remains one of the advantages of choosing the XL over the smaller Pixel 11 Pro, with Google's larger handset better equipped for quicker top-ups. Pixelsnap magnetic wireless charging also returns, making Qi2 accessories such as chargers, stands and grips easy to attach.
It's a capable setup, although rival Android flagships continue to offer significantly faster wired charging.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL: Where it doesn't move the needle
Despite being Google's most premium traditional smartphone, there are several areas where the Pixel 11 Pro XL doesn't represent a dramatic upgrade over the Pixel 10 Pro XL.
The 6.8-inch form factor and overall design remain very familiar, while the camera continues to use the same basic 50MP + 48MP + 48MP arrangement. The sensors and image processing have improved, but anyone looking purely at headline specifications won't see a huge generational jump.
Battery capacity has actually fallen slightly from 5,200mAh to 5,115mAh, while the entry-level 256GB version drops from the Pixel 10 Pro XL's 16GB RAM to 12GB.
Tensor G6 also remains behind some flagship competitors for raw graphics performance. If gaming is your biggest priority, Google's top Pixel isn't necessarily the obvious choice despite its premium price.
How much is the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL?
The Google Pixel 11 Pro XL starts at £1279 in the UK, firmly positioning it alongside the most expensive conventional flagship smartphones on the market.
There are three storage configurations:
- 256GB - £1279
- 512GB - £1399
- 1TB - £1,629
The phone is available in Canyon, Fog, Obsidian and Olive, although only the Obsidian colourway provides the 1TB storage option. The other three only have 256GB and 512GB.
That represents a sizable investment, particularly when the smaller Pixel 11 Pro offers almost all the same core features for less. What you're primarily paying extra for is the XL's larger display and bigger-phone experience.
Google Pixel 11 Pro XL: Our Verdict
The Google Pixel 11 Pro XL is Google's ultimate conventional flagship for users who believe bigger really is better.
Its expansive 6.8-inch display is excellent for entertainment and productivity, while the upgraded main and telephoto cameras reinforce Google's position among the best smartphone manufacturers for photography.
Tensor G6 and the latest Gemini Intelligence features also make this the most capable version yet of Google's AI-focused Pixel experience.
