Our Google Pixel 10a Review
The Google Pixel 10a continues Google’s “A-series” approach, offering a simplified version of its flagship Pixel 10 range at a much lower price.
Compared with the Pixel 9a, this year’s model is more of a refinement than a major upgrade. It keeps much of the same hardware, including the camera system and Tensor chipset, but introduces small improvements like a larger battery, faster charging, improved durability and new AI features.
It sits below the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro models, lacking their newer Tensor G5 chip and more advanced camera features, but still offering a strong everyday experience at a more accessible price.
Google Pixel 10a: Design
The Pixel 10a keeps a familiar design but with a subtle tweak - the camera module now sits completely flush with the back, unlike the slight bump seen on the Pixel 9a.
The phone features a matte composite back with an aluminium frame, and comes in colours Lavender, Berry, Fog and Obsidian.
Durability is strong for a mid-range phone, with IP68 water and dust resistance and upgraded Gorilla Glass 7i, improving protection compared with the previous generation.
Overall, the design changes are subtle, but the flush camera and improved materials help give the 10a a slightly more premium feel than the Pixel 9a.
Google Pixel 10a: Display
The Pixel 10a features a 6.3-inch pOLED “Actua” display with Full HD+ resolution and a 60-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, delivering smooth scrolling and vibrant colours.
Compared with the Pixel 9a, the display is largely unchanged, but benefits from higher peak brightness (up to 3000 nits, up to 2000 nits HDR) and slightly thinner bezels, improving visibility and immersion - it also matches the Pixel 10 in basically every way for display quality.
Google Pixel 10a: Camera
Google sticks with the same proven camera setup as the Pixel 9a:

- 13MP ultrawide camera
- 13MP front camera
Although the hardware hasn’t changed, Google’s strength lies in its computational photography and AI features. Tools like Night Sight, Magic Eraser, Best Take and Camera Coach help deliver consistently strong results in a variety of conditions.
Compared with the Pixel 10, however, there’s a key limitation: the 10a lacks a dedicated telephoto lens. The Pixel 10 introduces a triple-camera system with optical zoom, giving it a clear advantage for zoom shots and more versatile photography.
That said, for everyday photos - portraits, landscapes and social content - the Pixel 10a still performs very well and produces images that are often comparable in standard shooting conditions - especially at the price point.
Google Pixel 10a: Performance
Under the hood, the Pixel 10a uses the Google Tensor G4 chipset with 8 GB RAM, the same processor found in the Pixel 9 series rather than the newer Tensor G5 used in the flagship Pixel 10 line-up.
In everyday use, performance is smooth and responsive, handling apps, multitasking and light gaming comfortably. However, compared with the Pixel 10, there’s a noticeable gap in power and future-proofing. The Pixel 10 benefits from the newer Tensor G5 chip and 12 GB RAM, which gives it an edge in heavier workloads, gaming and AI processing tasks.
Both phones run Android 16 and share Google’s AI features like Gemini, Circle to Search and Live Translate, so the overall experience feels very similar day-to-day - but the Pixel 10 is better equipped for long-term performance as apps and AI features become more demanding.
That said, if you’re opting for the Pixel 10a, you’re likely not as bothered with those features, and in that regard you’ll most definitely find the 10a to be more than exceptional for your needs.
Google Pixel 10a: Battery & Charging
One of the biggest upgrades this year is the battery. The Pixel 10a packs a 5,100mAh battery, which betters the Pixel 10 but remains the same from the Pixel 9a, but with expanded performance helping to deliver stronger all-day performance.
Charging has also improved, with support for faster wired charging (up to 45W+) and wireless charging, making it more convenient than earlier A-series models.
Combined with Google’s software optimisation, the device comfortably delivers over a day of typical use.
How much is the Google Pixel 10a?
The Google Pixel 10a starts at £499, keeping the same pricing strategy as previous A-series models and making it one of the best-value phones in its category.

This pricing places it well below the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro models, while still offering many of the same core features.
Google Pixel 10a: Our Verdict
The Google Pixel 10a is a classic iterative update - it doesn’t reinvent the formula, but it refines what already worked well on the Pixel 9a.
The improved battery life, faster charging, stronger durability and updated software make it a more complete package, even if the core hardware remains largely unchanged.
Compared with rivals like the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE or iPhone 16e, the Pixel 10a stands out for its clean Android experience, long software support and AI-driven features, even if it lacks the raw power or premium hardware of those devices.
