The new Pixel 8 range continues Google’s focus on delivering a smarter phone each year, with their latest edition being the smartest yet. And with the best upgrades on things like the camera saved for the Pro edition, this Pixel 8 Pro can easily match up with the other heavyweights in the industry.
Google Pixel 8 Pro: Display
Google introduced the new Super Actua display to the Pixel 8 Pro, which is the same as the 7 Pro, but the difference comes in the brightness, as it is the brightest phone in the Pixel range to date, with up to 1600 nits in HDR and 2400 nits at peak brightness.
Google Pixel 8 Pro: Camera
Unlike the Pixel 8, the 8 Pro comes with new and upgraded hardware to the camera to make it better than it has ever been before.
The 8 Pro has been given a 48-megapixel Quad PD sensor with f/195 max aperture and improved autofocus performance. It also has the same 50 MP main wide camera as on the 8, but adds Google’s Super Res Zoom digital computational tele mode which can go up to 8x.
Telephoto mode is only available on the Pro; this is a 5x optical telephoto camera that boasts a brighter, f/2.8 aperture for the 48 MP sensor.
It includes Super Res Zoom up to 30x as well for incredibly detailed pictures even while zoomed in at its fullest.
Google Pixel 8 Pro: Design
The 8 Pro stays at 6.7 inches, unlike the 8 which shrunk by 0.1 inches. In every way, the 8 Pro is designed very similarly to the 7 Pro, keeping to Google's formula that sets them apart from other brands.
Google Pixel 8 Pro: Performance
The new Google Tensor G3 processor provides better performance and helps the built-in AI to perform better. It also helps to power a lot of the new features, such as Magic Editor.
It has an all-day battery life thanks to the upgraded 5050 mAh battery that can extend up to 72 hours on extreme battery saver.
Google Pixel 8 Pro: Features & Android 14
There are lots of new features on the Pixel 8 Pro. Some have been described already, but there are also things like; Recorder, which allows you to record meetings and have the transcription written out in front of you in real time; and Face Unlock, which is a returning feature but better now.
Android 14 has also been introduced along with the new range. It allows for more customisation with AI-generated wallpapers and new accessibility options.
How much is the Google Pixel 8 Pro?
The new range has taken a step up in price, with the Pixel 8 Pro starting from £999 compared to the Pixel 7 Pro's £849 starting price tag.
The price does vary depending on the storage size - you’ll be looking at paying slightly more for more storage.

Google Pixel 8 Pro: Our verdict
Google's inclusion of built-in AI is a brilliant touch that makes the Pixel 8 range the easiest phone to work with, not just from them but possibly from all phones on the market.
The Pixel 8 Pro has all the best features saved for it, and in turn produces a masterful product, if not on the bit too expensive side.
If it weren’t for the increase in price, we would rate this as the best phone on the market currently. But even as such, it is easily capable of handling itself against the other Pro range phones in the industry.
