The Motorola Edge 70 is a sleek mid-premium smartphone that combines an ultra-thin design, a smooth OLED display and strong everyday performance.
Our Motorola Edge 70 Review
The Motorola Edge 70 brings Motorola into the ultra-slim smartphone market with a unique blend of featherweight design, solid everyday performance and a long-lasting battery — all at a competitive mid-premium price.
Motorola Edge 70: Design
The Edge 70’s standout feature is its ultra-thin and light build - just under 6 mm thick and feather-light in hand. Despite its slimness, Motorola hasn’t skimped on durability: the phone carries IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance, plus MIL-STD-810H certification, ensuring a robust feel that’s rare for a device this thin.
The rear sports a textured silicone finish that’s both stylish and grippy, helping it stand out from glossier rivals - and keeping fingerprints at bay.
Motorola Edge 70: Display
Motorola equips the Edge 70 with a 6.7-inch pOLED panel featuring a 2712×1220 resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, producing sharp, vibrant visuals suitable for streaming, browsing and everyday apps.
While lab peak brightness measurements vary, in real-world use the display stays bright and readable outdoors, and HDR10+ support enhances contrast in compatible content.
Motorola Edge 70: Camera
The camera setup centres on a capable 50 MP primary lens paired with a 50 MP ultrawide sensor and a 50 MP front-facing camera - a trio that delivers solid results for daylight photography and social media content.
However, there’s no dedicated telephoto lens, meaning zoom relies on digital cropping rather than true 2×-3× optics.
Overall image quality is decent, with natural colour and detail in good light, though low-light performance isn’t class-leading and can exhibit some noise and softness.
Motorola Edge 70: Performance
Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset paired with up to 12GB RAM, which delivers smooth performance for everyday tasks like social apps, browsing and video.
This configuration isn’t designed to rival true flagship powerhouses, but it feels responsive and capable for most users.
It’s worth noting that in some benchmarks it trails more powerful mid-range competitors, but for daily use the performance is more than adequate.
Motorola Edge 70: Battery & Charging
Motorola has done an impressive job fitting a 4,800 mAh silicon-carbon battery into such a skinny body, helping it deliver all-day battery life even with the large 120 Hz screen.
Fast charging at 68W is supported, capable of getting you back to full quite quickly, and 15W wireless charging adds flexibility.
How much is the Motorola Edge 70?
The Edge 70 falls into the mid-premium price bracket at around £700.
The phone only comes in one storage option (512GB) with 12GB RA. It has four colours to choose from and the price does differ between them - by a whopping 2p.
- PANTONE Lily Pad - £699.98
- PANTONE Gadget Grey - £700
- PANTONE Cloud Dancer - £700
- PANTONE Bronze Green - £699.98
Motorola Edge 70: Our Verdict
The Motorola Edge 70 nails the ultra-slim phone concept better than most, balancing an eye-catching design with solid battery life and everyday performance - all while staying significantly lighter and thinner than many competitors.
However, its performance package and camera flex aren’t flagship-level, and the lack of a telephoto lens might disappoint photography enthusiasts.
