The Nokia 2660 Flip is a nostalgic revival of the classic Nokia flip phone design, updated for the modern age but lacking any smart features.
Our Nokia 2660 Flip Review
The Nokia 2660 Flip is a true blast from the past. A back-to-basics clamshell feature phone, completely free of any ‘smart’ tech baggage. There’s no touch screen, no AI - not even any WiFi connectivity.
But it does have Snake, and big, tactile buttons.
Nokia 2660 Flip: Design
The Nokia 2660 Flip’s design is pure, unfiltered nostalgia. It’s a classic clamshell design with a large, tactile T9 keypad for easy dialling and texting, and even has a physical emergency button on the back for quick SOS calls.
It’s plastic (and pretty light at around 123g), but feels sturdy in that typical old-school Nokia way, and is available in multiple colours.
Anyone looking for an ultra-nostalgic experience, or anyone who adamantly doesn’t want a smart phone, will find a lot to love here.
Nokia 2660 Flip: Display
This is a resolutely simple phone, so you won’t find any fancy AMOLED HD screens here. Internally, the main screen is a relatively small 2.8-inch QVGA colour display - nothing special by modern standards, but clear and easy to read.
On the outside of the clamshell is an even smaller 1.77-inch screen which displays a few basic, but useful, items like the time, caller ID and notifications. But the crucial thing here is that there is no touchscreen whatsoever - everything on the Nokia 2660 Flip is entirely button-operated.
Nokia 2660 Flip: Camera
If there’s one area that suffers due to the 2660 Flip’s basic, stripped-back design, it’s the camera. We’ve become accustomed to relatively decent lenses on even the most entry-level smartphones, so the poor-quality snaps taken by the Flip can be a little… shocking.
There’s a single rear-mounted 0.3MP camera with a basic LED flash, which is strictly functional. Images come out blurry and dull - which, to be fair, was exactly the kind of thing you’d get on old-school flip phones.
Nokia 2660 Flip: Performance
As you might expect, performance isn’t on a par with a modern smartphone, but nor should it be. The Flip isn’t going for cutting edge AI features or graphically intense gaming apps - the whole point is that this is a back-to-basics, stripped down experience.
As such, the Flip runs a Unisoc T107 chipset with 48MB RAM, which is plenty for calls, texts and light apps. And yes, to answer the important question, it does come preloaded with Snake.
Beyond that, you’ll find 4G LTE connectivity with VoLTE support for clearer calls but, a little strangely, no WiFi connectivity at all. That might be a dealbreaker for some, especially if you’re on a PAYG plan with limited data.
The battery, though, is fantastic. For a start it’s removable, which is a huge bonus, and with such light usage from the processor it’ll easily last several days on a full charge.
How much is the Nokia 2660 Flip?
If you buy outright, the Nokia 2660 Flip will only set you back around £65 - a much more attractive price point than the latest smartphone. Although, of course, that low cost comes with quite a few technological caveats.
Nokia 2660 Flip: Our Verdict
The Nokia 2660 Flip isn’t for everyone. It doesn’t provide any of the modern bells and whistles - including a decent camera - that consumers might be used to. But if you’re sick of smartphones and longing for a simpler experience, this is exactly the kind of phone for you.
A barebones, nostalgic treat.
