The Samsung Galaxy A25 is an excellent budget device that manages to match up to its more expensive cousins in a lot of areas.

Samsung Galaxy A25 5G

Our Samsung Galaxy A25 5G Review

While the flagships get most of the attention every year, Samsung has always delivered excellent budget and mid-range devices. This year’s Galaxy A25 is no exception, packing some impressive functionality and a very reasonable price tag.

Samsung Galaxy A25: Design

The A25 continues Samsung’s history of echoing the design of its bigger, shinier flagship devices in its budget range. That is to say, it’s about what you’d expect: a fairly slim, sleek package with a trio of camera portholes stacked on the rear.

The real difference here is in the grid pattern on the back. While it might not be to some tastes, it’s a striking design that sets the A25 apart from its more expensive - and perhaps less visually interesting - siblings.

The A25 also comes in three colour options - blue, blue-black and yellow - some of which make the pattern more obvious. There’s a 3.5mm audio jack for wired headphones, too.

Samsung Galaxy A25: Display

In a lot of ways, the A25 is practically the same phone as last year’s mid-range Galaxy A34, and the display is no exception. Aside from the slightly smaller size - the A25 is packing a still-impressive 6.5-inch screen, compared to the A34’s 6.6-inch - this is the same colourful, detailed and bright AMOLED display.

It also has the same rapid 120Hz refresh rate, which makes for a much more snappy and premium-feel experience than expected in a budget device. In fact, this may just be one of the best screens available right now in this price range.

Samsung Galaxy A25: Camera

You’ll find a pretty typical camera setup on the Galaxy A25 - a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro on the back and a serviceable 13MP selfie camera on the front. About average for modern devices in this price range, and certainly not terrible.

The camera array should suit most everyday needs, but like most budget offerings it struggles in certain situations - especially low light.

Samsung Galaxy A25: Performance

The Galaxy A25 is packing the same 5000mAH battery that you’ll find in most other devices in this price range (and higher). It’s pretty decent, and should easily last a full day or two before needing a charge.

As expected with a budget device, there’s no wireless charging, and charging through the standard 25W USB-C port can be slow. It’s by no means a deal-breaker, though - and you’d be hard-pushed to find anything better at this price point.

The A25 runs Samsung’s own Exynos 1280 chipset which, while a few generations out-of-date at this point, is still an excellent processor that should suit everyday usage just fine. It may not be powerful enough for intensive gaming, but that’s about as expected for a budget device.

It’s worth noting that the A25 also comes 5G-enabled as standard, and it has a Micro-SD slot for adding up to 1TB of additional storage, if needed.

How much is the Samsung A25?

If you buy outright, the Samsung Galaxy A25 will set you back around £249 with 128Gb storage.

It’s also worth noting that there are a lot of contract deals out there to help spread the cost, and Samsung themselves offers various financing and trade-in options to help make the device more affordable.

Samsung Galaxy A25: Our Verdict

If you’re in the market for a budget smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A25 is a very attractive option.

With some great hand-me-down features from its more expensive siblings - particularly the screen and processor - and some interesting design choices, this is an excellent device that should meet most requirements.
