The new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra takes a big step up as the company's flagship phone. With integrated Galaxy AI and a host of new and improved components, the S24 Ultra is sure to be one of the best phones of 2024. 

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Display

The display on the S24 Ultra is slightly improved on the S23 Ultra, with a 1440 x 3120 (as opposed to 1440 x 3088) dynamic AMOLED 2X screen offering 120Hz and HDR10+. The biggest significant difference is a higher peak nits, with 2600 on the Ultra providing a better peak brightness.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Camera

Samsung saved the best new camera features for the Ultra, and while many features are the same again as the S23 Ultra, there are some improvements, mainly in the photo editing.

The S24 Ultra once again features an epic 200MP main wide camera along with a newly improved 50MP periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom, 12MP ultrawide and 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, all on the rear camera.

On the front camera, it's the same again as last year with a 12MP wide camera.

The Ultra once again comes in at 6.8 inches and weighs 233g, on par with the S23 Ultra. And just like last year, it comes with a stylus, the S Pen.

Unlike the S24 and S24+, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will feature on all S24 Ultra's worldwide, delivering supreme performance that can handle the new Galaxy AI with ease.

The new Galaxy AI will be implemented on the full S24 range and it brings with it, as Samsung themselves say, “meaningful intelligence to enhance every part of life.” 

It boasts features such as Live Translate, which enables barrier-free communication with intelligent text and call translations, and Chat Assist to better help communication by ensuring the right tone is conveyed and more.

The AI will also be able to better enhance your photos, giving them even crisper and clearer natural details for the most visually appealing pictures.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Our verdict

While on the surface it doesn’t seem like an improvement, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is a fantastic flagship for the company that perfectly exemplifies the direction Samsung are looking to go in with their phones going forward.

The implementation of Galaxy AI is what puts it over the S23 Ultra. While it may be coming for the previous phones, with it being implemented from the start on the S24 range, it will always be better utilised in them, thus giving it a good advantage.
