The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra continues Samsung’s tradition of delivering one of the most powerful Android smartphones on the market. It builds on the already excellent Galaxy S25 Ultra, refining the design, upgrading the processor and introducing new features like the Privacy Display and faster charging.
While the S26 Ultra doesn’t radically change Samsung’s flagship formula, it introduces improvements across performance, camera optics and AI capabilities that keep it competitive with rivals like the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Google Pixel 10 Pro XL.
For users who want the very best Samsung smartphone available, the S26 Ultra remains the device to beat.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Design
Samsung keeps the familiar Ultra design but refines it slightly this year. The phone measures 163.6×78.1×7.9mm and weighs about 214g, making it thinner and lighter than the S25 Ultra while retaining the same large display.
The frame now uses a stronger aluminium construction and the corners are slightly more rounded compared with the sharper edges of the S25 Ultra, which some users found uncomfortable to hold.
Durability remains excellent with IP68 water and dust resistance and Gorilla Glass protection on both sides of the device. Samsung also keeps the integrated S Pen, allowing users to write notes, sketch and interact with productivity features directly from the stylus.
Overall, the design changes are subtle, but the S26 Ultra feels slightly more refined and comfortable than its predecessor.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Display
The S26 Ultra features a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with QHD+ resolution and a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, delivering the same crisp visuals and smooth performance that made the S25 Ultra’s screen one of the best on the market.
A major new addition is Samsung’s built-in Privacy Display, which limits how visible the screen is from side angles. This helps prevent nearby people from reading sensitive information such as messages or banking apps when you’re using your phone in public.
The feature works by altering how light is emitted from the OLED pixels, allowing the display to remain clear for the user directly in front while appearing dimmer from wider angles. In theory this makes the phone ideal for commuting or working in public spaces.
However, like other privacy-focused displays, there can be trade-offs. Narrower viewing angles may make it harder for multiple people to view the screen at once, and some users may notice slight differences in brightness or colour when the feature is active.
Despite this, the S26 Ultra’s display remains one of the most impressive smartphone screens available.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Camera
Samsung once again equips the Ultra with one of the most powerful camera systems in the smartphone market:

While the hardware looks familiar compared with the S25 Ultra, Samsung has improved the optics and image processing. The main camera now features a wider f/1.4 aperture, allowing more light into the sensor for brighter photos in low-light conditions.
Samsung’s Nightography and Galaxy AI tools also continue to enhance image quality with improved HDR processing, low-light performance and powerful editing tools.
The result is a camera system that remains extremely versatile — whether you're capturing ultra-wide landscapes, zooming in with the periscope lens or recording high-resolution video.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Performance
Powering the S26 Ultra is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, the newest flagship chipset from Qualcomm. This processor delivers improvements in CPU, GPU and AI performance compared with the chip used in the S25 Ultra.
Samsung says the new chip offers:
- 19% faster CPU performance
- 24% improved graphics performance
- 39% faster AI processing
The phone launches with Android 16 and One UI 8.5, bringing deeper Galaxy AI integration, improved multitasking features and smarter automation tools.
Combined with 12 GB or 16 GB RAM, the S26 Ultra easily handles demanding tasks such as gaming, multitasking and video editing.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Battery & Charging
The S26 Ultra retains the 5,000 mAh battery used in previous Ultra models, providing reliable all-day battery life for most users.
However, charging speeds are significantly improved compared with the S25 Ultra. The new model supports up to 60W wired charging and 25W wireless charging, allowing the battery to recharge faster than before.
Combined with the efficient new chipset, the S26 Ultra should deliver slightly better endurance during everyday use.
How much is the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra?
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra remains the most expensive device in the S26 line-up, with prices starting at £1279 for the starting storage option of 256GB.
There are three storage options to choose from once again; 256GB with 12GB RAM; 512GB with 12GB RAM; and 1TB with 16GB RAM.

The colours are the same as found on the whole S26 range, with Cobalt Violet, Black, Sky Blue and White all offered as standard, and Pink Gold and Silver Shadow only available when buying with Samsung.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Our Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is another excellent flagship from Samsung, refining an already powerful formula rather than completely reinventing it.
Performance improvements, camera upgrades and faster charging make it one of the most capable Android phones available. The new Privacy Display also adds a practical security feature for people who frequently use their phone in public environments.
However, the feature may divide opinion. While it helps protect sensitive information from prying eyes, some users may prefer the unrestricted viewing angles of traditional displays if they often share their screen with others.
For anyone upgrading from older Galaxy devices like the S23 Ultra or S24 Ultra, the S26 Ultra delivers clear improvements in speed, AI features and camera performance. But if you already own the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the upgrades may feel more incremental.
